Last year, Ferrari had trouble managing their tires during races. They weren’t consistent, and the tires didn’t perform the same from one stint to another.
This season, the SF-24 car has been doing well during long runs in the first four races. Carlos Sainz even won in Australia, and the team got on the podium in the other three races.
But Vasseur still wants to see how the car does in different places and weather conditions. He thinks they’ve improved their tire management, but there are still areas where they need to get better.
He said, “We’ve made a big improvement in managing the tires. But we still have other areas to work on if we want to do even better.”
He also mentioned that what works one day might not work the next. Every race is a new challenge, with different conditions to deal with.
When asked if cooler weather might help Ferrari catch up to Red Bull, Vasseur said they would have to wait and see. They only had one practice session in cooler conditions in Japan, so it’s hard to tell.
He added, “We’ll have to see how we do in China. But we need to remember that even though the weather might be different, the other teams are also trying to do their best.”
Vasseur thinks Ferrari did well in the Suzuka race. Both Sainz and Leclerc finished in good positions, and everything went smoothly.
He said, “We had a good strategy, and the team worked well together. Our pace was good, and all in all, it was a strong performance. If we want to improve, we need to focus on doing better in qualifying on Saturdays.”
