Alonso is thinking about whether he wants to continue racing in Formula 1 after his contract ends this year. He prefers staying with Aston Martin, but there are rumors about him joining Red Bull or Mercedes if the right opportunity comes up.

While Alonso is happy with Aston Martin, the team hasn’t been performing as well as he’d like. They’re not at the front of the pack like last year; instead, they’re in the middle of the group behind Red Bull.

Team principal Mike Krack believes Aston Martin needs to improve to convince Alonso to stay. He says they must push harder and move up the grid to keep Alonso interested.

Aston Martin had a good showing at the Japanese Grand Prix. Alonso had one of his best weekends, finishing ahead of both Mercedes cars and Oscar Piastri’s McLaren. The Suzuka track, known for tough tire conditions like Bahrain, where Aston Martin struggled, gave Krack hope for their performance.

Krack feels positive about their progress, especially since they were ahead of Mercedes at Suzuka. However, he acknowledges they need more consistent results to prove themselves.

When asked about Alonso’s comment that the team overachieved in Japan, Krack agreed. He explained that based on their performance in the first five races, they usually finish between seventh and tenth positions. So finishing ahead of faster cars in Japan was a big achievement for them.
