McLaren had a big turnaround in 2023 when they improved their car, moving from the middle of the pack to near the front. They did well, getting nine podium finishes starting from the Silverstone race in July. This helped them finish fourth overall in the team standings.

Even though McLaren isn’t consistently as fast as they used to be, they’ve stayed competitive, usually behind Red Bull, who are leading the pack. Right now, McLaren is third, ahead of Mercedes, but Ferrari has also gotten much better, so they’re still ahead of McLaren.

The boss of McLaren, Stella, is feeling positive about the work happening in the Woking factory. He hopes they can lead the way in improving their car compared to other teams.

When asked if they can catch up to Ferrari with their upgrades, Stella said, “It’s like a competition to see who can upgrade their car the best. Just one upgrade won’t be enough because Ferrari will also upgrade. But last year, we improved our car more than our rivals did. So, that’s what we’re aiming for again.”

Stella thinks it would be a great achievement if McLaren could keep their third position in the championship, proving they have the third-best car. But if they have a chance to catch up to Ferrari at some tracks, they’ll go for it.

He said, “We’ll do our best. In Formula 1, you have to work hard and make the most of every opportunity. After we introduce some new upgrades in Miami, we’ll see where we stand.”
