Daniel Ricciardo, an Australian Formula 1 driver, had a successful season with the AlphaTauri team last year. However, this year has been challenging for him, especially with his teammate Yuki Tsunoda performing well.
Red Bull Racing has built a new VCARB 01 chassis for Ricciardo to use in the upcoming race in China. Although his previous chassis didn’t have any apparent issues, Ricciardo believes that the new one will give him a mental boost.
Ricciardo explained, “I’ve been struggling a bit this year. But I was always going to switch to the new chassis when it was ready. Yuki is happy with his, so that’s good. Having the new chassis will give me peace of mind.”
He compared his current situation to his first season with Renault in 2019 when he faced difficulties initially but bounced back with good results later in the season. Ricciardo hopes that the upcoming race in China will turn things around for him this year.
Despite rumors linking reserve driver Liam Lawson to Ricciardo’s seat for 2025, Ricciardo doesn’t feel any additional pressure. He believes in his track record and trusts that the team knows he can deliver good results.
“I’m not a rookie trying to prove myself. I have a track record, and the team knows I can perform,” Ricciardo said. “I want to perform well for myself and the team, but I’m not worried about losing my seat. It’s not like that at all.”
