Formula E and the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) have revealed the latest evolution in electric racing technology: the new all-electric GEN3 Evo race car. Revealed at H.S.H Prince Albert II’s Private Car Collection, this cutting-edge vehicle is set to debut in Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, where it will showcase its remarkable capabilities alongside some of the world’s most renowned manufacturers and drivers.
Developed by specialists from Formula E and the FIA, the GEN3 Evo represents a significant advancement in electric racing technology. With a staggering acceleration of 0-60mph in just 1.82 seconds (0-100kph in 1.86s), it outpaces its predecessor, the GEN3, by nearly a full second.
This remarkable feat sets a new standard in performance, sustainability, and efficiency, reaffirming Formula E’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of motorsport while embracing environmental responsibility.
Key technical upgrades for the GEN3 Evo include enhanced performance, agility, and aerodynamics. With a faster, stronger, and more agile design, it offers an estimated 2% performance gain over the GEN3, resulting in quicker qualifying laps and exhilarating racing experiences. The introduction of all-wheel drive (AWD) during critical race moments further promotes excitement, providing maximum acceleration and control for drivers.
Additionally, the GEN3 Evo features optimized all-weather Hankook iON tires, offering 5-10% more grip and made from 35% recycled and sustainable materials. These enhancements are specifically tailored to foster closer and more thrilling racing between drivers, enhancing the experience for fans and participants alike.
Beyond its impressive performance, the GEN3 Evo embodies Formula E’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. From regenerative braking to sustainable battery development and conscientious supply chain practices, every aspect of the car’s design and production reflects a dedication to reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainability in motorsport.
As part of the technical roadmap for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, all powertrains will be newly homologated for Season 11, allowing manufacturers to implement key learnings and optimizations from the GEN3 into their new cars. This collaborative effort underscores Formula E and the FIA’s shared vision of pushing the boundaries of sustainable motorsport while delivering competitive racing experiences.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA, praised the collaborative effort behind the development of the GEN3 Evo, highlighting its significance in advancing electric racing technology. Jeff Dodds, Chief Executive Officer of Formula E, expressed excitement about the groundbreaking capabilities of the GEN3 Evo, emphasizing its role in attracting drivers and fans worldwide with its superior performance and sustainability.
