Alonso got a 10-second penalty during the sprint race in China. He bumped into Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, but he couldn’t serve the penalty because he had a puncture and had to retire.

Alonso didn’t understand why he was penalized. He thought it was just a regular racing incident.

Aston Martin, Alonso’s team, wanted the stewards to review the decision. They showed new evidence, but the stewards didn’t think it was enough to change their minds.

Aston Martin provided a video from Alonso’s car, but the stewards already had other videos. They didn’t think the new video changed anything.

The stewards said that even though they didn’t have the new video before, it wouldn’t have changed their decision.

Aston Martin was told about the decision on Friday. However because not all the stewards were available, the decision was delayed.

Aston Martin’s team principal, Mike Krack, said it felt unfair that his drivers were getting penalties while others weren’t.

Alonso was upset too. He said Lewis Hamilton, a Mercedes driver, didn’t get a penalty for a similar incident because he “wasn’t Spanish.”

Alonso wants to talk to the FIA about being fair when giving out penalties.
