Williams believes they have improved their car from last year, but they’re having a hard time keeping up with Haas and RB who have gotten even better. They’ve had some setbacks at the beginning of the season because of crashes, which made it tough to focus on making upgrades.
They’ve tried to make their FW46 car work well on all types of tracks. This has fixed some problems they had before, but it also means they can’t do as well at tracks where the car was really good last year.
In Miami, Albon, one of Williams’ drivers, said the car feels better in some corners, but it’s less stable in others compared to last year. He thinks RB and Haas have made big improvements. Even when Williams does well, like in China, they still end up in lower positions.
Albon believes there’s more performance in the car that they haven’t unlocked yet. He thinks they can score points regularly once they figure it out. But they’re struggling because they haven’t been able to bring many upgrades to the car since the season started.
Before the Miami race, team boss James Vowles said they have some upgrades planned now that they’ve sorted out their spare parts situation. They’ve already put in a new front suspension and have a new floor coming soon. But they’ve had setbacks because they lost some parts and had to build new ones, which put them behind.
