Kevin Magnussen joined Haas in 2017, a year after they started racing. He stayed there until the end of the 2020 season when he lost his spot.

But he made a surprise comeback to Haas in 2022 after the team got rid of Nikita Mazepin and their sponsor Uralkali because of what happened in Ukraine.

His contract with Haas ends this year, but Kevin, who is 31 years old, wants to stay longer. He believes the team has more potential than they haven’t used yet.

“I think I still feel like there’s so much unfinished business here,” said Magnussen. “I feel like it’s always been. I’ve been here for many years now. There’s always been some potential that we haven’t seemed to really exploit.”

He thinks the team has talented people and they’ve been underestimated since the beginning. They don’t just copy other teams, they do their own thing.

He said, “Many people didn’t give us a lot of credit in the beginning, because they thought we were just copying Ferrari, but we’ve shown quite a few times that we don’t just copy, we are doing our thing.”

“I’m like everyone else, focusing on this year and at the same time open to any opportunity. So as I said, I just told you how I feel about the opportunity of staying at Haas, I think that is naturally the most likely option.”

He hasn’t talked about renewing his contract yet, but they’re always talking about different things in the team.

If Kevin stays at Haas next year, he’ll have a new teammate because Nico Hulkenberg decided to join Sauber for 2025.

Kevin was surprised by Nico’s decision. He wishes him the best and hopes they can keep improving as a team.

He said, “I actually feel like we are working quite well as a team. It’s competitive, but it’s helped me. It’s not like we’re getting in each other’s way.”

“A troubled Miami GP left Magnussen just two points away from a race ban as he now accumulates 10 penalty points on his licence.”
