The tension between Formula 1 and its governing body has eased. They announced on Wednesday that they have agreed to work together for the future of F1.

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said earlier this month that his relationship with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali is better than ever. They are working together to make F1 stronger.

In a statement on Wednesday, both the FIA and Formula One Management (FOM) said they are working together to make F1 better. They want to make sure F1 continues to grow around the world.

There have been disagreements between FOM and the FIA, especially since Ben Sulayem became president after the controversial end to the 2021 season. They disagreed on things like drivers wearing jewelry in the car or making political statements. There were also concerns about F1’s finances when Ben Sulayem questioned how much the series is worth.

Someone also complained that Ben Sulayem interfered during the 2023 season, but the FIA said he didn’t do anything wrong.

One big issue was about Michael Andretti and General Motors wanting to add a two-car American team to F1. Ben Sulayem supported this idea, but FOM and the existing teams wanted to keep the number of teams at 10. They also doubted Andretti’s team could compete at the top level.

The statement didn’t mention the Andretti situation. Andretti and Cadillac officials met with FOM and the FIA during the Miami Grand Prix, but there’s no news about what was discussed.
