Last time, Lando Norris won a race, which was amazing for McLaren. They had made big changes to their car, and it showed speed similar to Red Bull’s at the Miami track. Norris was doing well against Max Verstappen before a safety car changed things during the race.
Before the Imola Grand Prix, Norris said McLaren was the third-best team in Formula 1. When someone asked if that was a fair assessment, Oscar Piastri, another driver, said it’s hard to tell. Sometimes they do better than expected, like in China and Miami. But they’ve learned not to predict too much and just see how things go. Ferrari and Red Bull are also improving their cars, so McLaren can’t expect to win every weekend.
Norris knows McLaren still has work to do to win more races regularly. Different races have different challenges, like managing tires. In some races, like Australia and China, other teams have done better because they managed their tires well. But McLaren is making progress, and Norris believes they could be in the running for the title soon.
He’s not overly confident, but he thinks McLaren is doing well and improving faster than other teams. He hopes they can challenge for wins more often next year and maybe even compete for the championship.
