After the Miami race, Ferrari announced that Charles Leclerc’s long-time race engineer, Xavi Marcos, would be taking on a new role. It’s not clear what job he will do now. Bryan Bozzi, who has worked with Ferrari for 10 years as a performance engineer, will be Leclerc’s new race engineer.
This is a rare move for Ferrari. The last time they did something like this mid-season was in 2006. Back then, they brought in Rob Smedley to work with Felipe Massa.
People are curious about why Ferrari made this change now. Leclerc said he wasn’t part of the decision-making process. He told the media that the decision was made between the team and Xavi, and it was communicated to him after the Miami race.
Leclerc seemed confident about the change. He said he’s worked with Bryan before, so it won’t be a big adjustment. He believes they will be back at their best very soon.
Ferrari’s team principal, Fred Vasseur, explained why they made this change. He said Bryan and Leclerc have a good working relationship and trust each other. They think Bryan is a good fit for the job, especially since they’re fighting for tiny advantages on the track.
Vasseur believes Bryan’s experience with the team and the car will make the transition easy. He’s confident that this change will help Ferrari improve even more.
