In the last three races, Kevin Magnussen got seven penalty points on his racing license, bringing his total to 10. If a driver gets 12 points, they can be banned from racing. This rule started in 2014.

In the Chinese Grand Prix and the Miami races, Magnussen got penalties because of incidents with other drivers. But it was during the Miami sprint race that things got worse. He got several penalties for going off the track too many times to keep Lewis Hamilton behind him.

After the race, he was questioned about his behavior and comments. He used similar tactics in a race in Jeddah in March to help his teammate.

Before the Imola race, it was mentioned that the FIA might change the rules to give harsher penalties for these kinds of incidents.

In a press conference, Magnussen said he needed to race differently to avoid more penalties. He questioned if it was fair to get a race ban for going off the track a little.

He suggested that instead of drive-through penalties, drivers should be made to give back positions. If they don’t, the consequences should be severe. He thinks this would be simpler and fairer.

He also talked about the new rules introduced this year and how they might change the natural way of racing. He believes racing should be exciting and showcase the skills of the best drivers. He thinks the guidelines should allow for more natural racing but still punish unfair moves severely.
