There’s a lot of talk about where Sainz will race next year. He has an offer from Sauber to join them for a long time, even when they become the Audi team in 2026. Audi wants him to decide soon so they can plan ahead.
But Sainz isn’t rushing. He’s waiting to see if there are openings at Red Bull or Mercedes. But it seems like those chances are getting slim. Red Bull might keep Sergio Perez for just one more year, and Mercedes might promote Andrea Kimi Antonelli from F2.
But Sainz is talking with Williams. They’re sharing their plans for the future. Williams already has Alex Albon signed up, and their boss, James Vowles, wants to make some changes to help the team do better.
One thing Williams has that’s attractive to Sainz is their deal with Mercedes for 2026. There’s talk that Mercedes has some good ideas for their new engine.
Vowles talked about Williams’ plans at the Imola Grand Prix. He said they’re working hard to get better, even if they’re not doing great right now.
He said, “We’re working on the car for 2025 to be ready for 2026 and 2027. I want us to be successful in the future. To do that, I’ve got to make some tough choices to change things around.”
Some people thought Sainz would have to take the Audi offer because Red Bull and Mercedes don’t seem promising. But he hinted in Monaco that things might be different.
He said, “I know more behind the scenes than what people are saying. I won’t spill the beans. I’ll consider all my options and make the right choice. Once I decide, it’ll happen fast. I just need to figure out what I want in my next contract.”
