Aston Martin started off strong in 2023, with Fernando Alonso landing on the podium six times in the first eight races. But as other teams like Mercedes, Ferrari, and especially McLaren made big improvements, Aston Martin struggled to keep up. Now, they’ve slipped to fifth place.

Even though they’re facing challenges on the track, the team is still working hard to build up their new headquarters in Silverstone. They’re even planning to get a new wind tunnel soon. This shows their commitment to reaching the high goals set by owner Lawrence Stroll, who even tried to hire Adrian Newey from Red Bull.

Fernando Alonso is confident in the team’s ability to catch up and even surpass their competitors in development. He understands that Formula 1 is a tough sport. He mentions how McLaren faced difficulties last year but managed to improve quickly. He believes Aston Martin can do the same.

Alonso thinks they have an advantage with Lawrence Stroll leading the team. Stroll is not just the owner; he’s also very competitive. Alonso believes Stroll’s leadership will help them fix problems faster than other teams.

At the recent race in Imola, Aston Martin introduced some upgrades to their car. While these upgrades seem to be working, they haven’t made the car easier to drive. Both Alonso and Lance Stroll had trouble with the car’s handling. Alonso even had a rare crash during practice.

Alonso sees races like Imola as opportunities to figure out what’s wrong with the car and how to fix it. Even though they might not finish as high in these races, he believes it’s more important to address the car’s issues so they can perform better in the future.
