Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc started the race well from pole position, followed closely by McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. Behind them, Carlos Sainz tried to overtake Piastri at a corner but then slid off the track at another corner because of a possible flat tire.

Then, Perez and Magnussen crashed. Magnussen tried to pass Perez, but there wasn’t enough space, and they collided. This caused both cars to slide across the track and crash into Nico Hulkenberg’s car, who was right behind them.

Hulkenberg, frustrated by the crash, called it “unnecessary”. The stewards decided not to investigate the crash further. Even though Magnussen already had 10 penalty points, he won’t get a race ban.

There was another crash involving Alpine drivers just before the race was stopped. Esteban Ocon tried to pass Pierre Gasly, but they collided, sending Ocon’s car into the air. Both incidents caused debris on the track, leading to the race being stopped.

After the crash, Sainz managed to make it to the pits. He had some contact with Piastri earlier, and it seemed like he had some issues with his car.

The race was restarted later, and Leclerc, Piastri, and Norris changed their tires during the stoppage. Sainz will start the restart from his original position because not all cars had crossed a specific point on the track before the race was stopped.
