Aston Martin hoped their new upgrades would help them at the Imola race, but many other teams also brought upgrades. This meant Aston Martin didn’t improve much compared to their rivals.
Both Fernando Alonso and his teammate Lance Stroll had trouble driving the car. They found it hard to control in corners, with the car sometimes turning too much at the start of a corner and then not enough in the middle.
Alonso even crashed during practice in Imola, which made things harder for him during the race weekend.
In Monaco, a race where confidence in the car is crucial, Aston Martin still struggled. Both Alonso and Stroll couldn’t qualify in the top 10.
After these two tough races, Alonso said they learned a lot about what’s wrong with the car. He thinks these races will help them improve not just this year but in the next few years too.
Alonso doesn’t expect things to get better quickly. He thinks it will take a few more races before Aston Martin can make their car much better.
Stroll agrees that the car is hard to drive. He says it’s tricky because it turns too much at some points and not enough at others. They both know they have to keep working hard to fix these problems.
