During the Monaco Grand Prix, Hamilton made some comments that caught attention. He suggested that he might not be able to outqualify his teammate Russell for the rest of the season. He also mentioned that Russell had a new front wing just for that race.

Later, it was found out that Hamilton chose not to use the new wing because he didn’t want to risk starting from the pitlane if it got damaged. But his comments raised questions about whether he felt his teammate had an advantage.

However, Mercedes team boss Wolff says there’s no reason for concern. He says Mercedes has always treated their drivers fairly. The only time they intervened in a race between teammates was in 2016, during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Throughout the Monaco weekend, Hamilton questioned some decisions made by the team. But Wolff believes this tension is just part of everyone trying their best in difficult situations.

Regarding Russell outqualifying Hamilton more often this season, Wolff doesn’t see it as a lasting trend. He says there are still many races left, and things can change.

Both Hamilton and Russell will have the new Mercedes front wing for the next race in Canada as part of the upgrades Mercedes is introducing.
