Aston Martin’s owner, Lawrence Stroll, really wants his team to start winning races. He’s looking at Enrico Cardile, who works at Ferrari, to help make it happen. Cardile is in charge of designing the chassis and aerodynamics of Ferrari’s cars. He’s been with Ferrari since 2016, and he’s done a great job.
The Ferrari SF-24, which Cardile helped design, has already won a race this season. Charles Leclerc drove it to victory in the Monaco Grand Prix. Cardile’s skills have caught the attention of other teams, including Aston Martin.
Aston Martin has big plans. Stroll has even tried to convince Adrian Newey, who’s leaving Red Bull, to join them. But Newey might go to Ferrari instead. That’s why Aston Martin is now trying to get Cardile on board. They think he might be interested if he’s worried about his job at Ferrari.
Newey might not do much at Ferrari, just giving advice here and there. But his reputation could overshadow the hard work of the people at Ferrari who have helped them improve.
Newey is taking his time to decide what he wants to do next in Formula 1. Fred Vasseur, the team principal at Ferrari, didn’t say much about their chances of hiring Newey. He just wants to make sure his team stays stable and keeps doing well.
When asked if he’s talking to Newey, Vasseur said, “I talk to lots of people in the paddock. But I don’t want to say too much, because anything I say could be misunderstood. What’s important to me is that my team stays strong and keeps moving forward. Right now, things are going well, and I’m happy with that.”
