The crash in the Formula 1 race at Monaco was big news. Checo Perez, Kevin Magnussen, and Nico Hulkenberg’s cars were wrecked. Officials called it a ‘racing incident’, but I saw something different. I’m not the one to decide, though. You’ve probably seen the footage and made up your own mind. Here’s what I think: Magnussen got lucky. Since it was the first lap and he was in an okay position compared to Perez, he might not get in trouble. But I still have questions. Like, why was he there? And, being so familiar with Monaco, what did he expect from that move? But it’s not that simple.

I wonder, did Monaco’s nature cause the crash? In Monaco, it’s super hard to pass. So, every driver probably thought, “First lap is my only chance to pass—let’s go for it.” Ocon thought the same, and it didn’t end well for him either. F1 cars have outgrown many tracks, including Monaco, since the ’70s.

The crash on the first lap shows drivers are fed up with Monaco. They’ve been unhappy with it for a while. Some even say it openly before the race. Can you imagine a tennis player saying Wimbledon will be boring? That’s what happened with Hamilton and Alonso!

After Leclerc’s victory, the Indy 500 had an exciting race. Monaco isn’t entertaining like that.

Monaco’s a tough race, but it’s still the ultimate driving challenge in F1. Qualifying is crucial. Monaco shakes up the usual order of things. It puts more pressure on the driver than the car.

Watching drivers master Monaco’s tight corners is incredible. But Red Bull struggled. Perez couldn’t get out of Q1. Alonso was also out early. Leclerc did great, but there were surprises in qualifying too.

Monaco’s qualifying tension doesn’t translate well on TV. Viewers don’t always get how hard it is to drive these cars there.

The first lap crash showed how fast F1 cars are. Ocon’s move on Gasly caused some drama too.

The race was dull, which isn’t good for a sport known for excitement. Monaco makes overtaking hard, but with these cars and drivers, it’s tough to buy that excuse. Monaco 2024 proved manual gear changes might make it more exciting. But honestly, I don’t know how to fix Monaco.

I’m happy for Leclerc’s win, but even Verstappen joked about needing a pillow because the race was boring. Monaco is confusing, annoying, and it’s probably not changing anytime soon.
