F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said sorry to team bosses because there were many problems during the race weekend.
People complained because the circuit and police didn’t talk properly. This made team members and guests stuck for hours when they tried to get into the track on Friday and Saturday.
The circuit is on Notre Dame Island, which was made by people in the Saint Lawrence River. It was used for the 1976 Olympic Games.
But, the police closed the bridges because too many cars were trying to go onto the island. There were a lot of people at the race — 350,000 over three days.
Other problems happened too. Some buildings where people eat and relax were flooded. These buildings float a little bit on a lake where rowing happened during the 1976 Olympics.
There wasn’t enough good parking. The parking for very important guests became muddy. These guests paid a lot of money to be there, so they were upset.
Also, on Friday, some fans came to watch but were told the practice was canceled because of rain. This wasn’t true, and they missed the action.
Even the TV booths where people talk about the race were leaking. This made the equipment inside get wet and maybe break.
After the race ended, fans went onto the track. The people who decide the rules for races called the promoter, Octane Racing Group, to talk about this problem. The promoter was told by the people who decide the rules that they did something wrong.
The circuit has a contract with F1 until 2031. Many people in Canada like F1, which is why so many came to watch.
But, F1 bosses want the race to happen earlier in the year. They also want the race in Miami to be close to the Canada race. This would help make things easier and better for the races.
F1 bosses also want changes to the track and how people get into it. They want better bathrooms, bigger areas for teams, and roofs on the stands to stop fans from getting wet.
Someone asked the circuit promoter for a comment, but they haven’t said anything yet.
