The Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton, finished fourth in Montreal. He missed out on the podium because his teammate, George Russell, overtook him at the end of the race.

Hamilton started seventh on the grid and struggled to pass Fernando Alonso from Aston Martin in the first half of the race. During a safety car period, he managed to jump ahead of Alonso in the pits. After another safety car, he overtook Russell and Oscar Piastri from McLaren.

Russell’s tire choice helped him get back on the podium. Hamilton said he wasn’t much happier than he was after qualifying. He admitted he had a bad race with many mistakes.
