Over a decade ago, the Vision Gran Turismo program revolutionized car aesthetics and performance in video games. Despite its innovative approach, the program’s entries often lack originality in naming, and the latest addition from Skoda continues this trend.
Initiated by Mercedes-Benz in 2013, the Vision Gran Turismo program saw automakers appending “Vision Gran Turismo” to their concepts, with few exceptions. However, Skoda’s debut in the program, while exciting for some, may not hold significant weight in the gaming community.
Designed exclusively for PlayStation’s Gran Turismo 7, Skoda’s Vision Gran Turismo concept draws inspiration from the legendary 1957 Skoda 1100 OHC Spider and the brand’s Modern Solid design language. Equipped with an electric AWD system and boasting 1,073 horsepower, the concept pays homage to Skoda’s racing heritage.
Featuring a futuristic cockpit with adjustable seating and innovative technology, the concept promises an immersive gaming experience. Despite Skoda’s attempt to infuse excitement into its brand, the Vision Gran Turismo concept may struggle to resonate with gamers.
