Due to a fuel pump fault, Honda Australia has announced a recall affecting more than 52,000 vehicles across eight model lines, including the CR-V, HR-V, Civic, Jazz, Odyssey, Accord, City, and NSX. This marks the third recall notice for the same issue, affecting approximately 4.5 million cars worldwide.
According to Honda’s latest recall notice, the fault stems from an improper manufacturing process, leading to swelling of a component within the fuel pump, rendering it inoperative. This defect poses serious risks, as it could prevent the engine from starting or cause it to stall while driving, potentially resulting in accidents and causing harm to vehicle occupants and other road users.
The affected vehicles, totaling 52,051 units built between 2017 and 2020, will require inspection and repairs. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail to schedule a service appointment at a Honda service center, where the necessary repairs will be carried out free of charge.
However, there may be delays in completing the repairs due to parts availability. For those seeking more information or assistance, Honda’s Customer Relations Department can be reached at 1800 804 854. Additionally, a vehicle identification number (VIN) list and the official recall notice are available for reference.
