Honda and its partners in China will show off the first three cars in their new “Ye” series of electric cars and SUVs at a big car show in Beijing later this month. The coolest one is a fancy sedan that will be available to buy by the end of next year.
They’re planning to make three more models for the Ye series, and all six will be sold in China by 2027. The Ye P7 and Ye S7 SUVs will be ready to buy by the end of 2024.
These SUVs will be built on a brand-new electric platform made just for them. You’ll have two options for each SUV: one with a motor in the back for rear-wheel drive, and one with two motors for four-wheel drive. Honda says both options are made to make driving fun.
The rear-wheel drive versions will feel sporty, while the four-wheel drive versions will be faster and handle a bit better. We don’t know much about the inside of the cars yet, but they’ll have fancy screens and lights that change with the help of artificial intelligence.
Honda also showed a concept for another sedan called the Ye GT Concept. It’s designed to be low and wide, like a race car. Honda wants drivers to feel like they’re part of the car when they drive it, but they haven’t said how fast it will go.
Honda says these cars will have a design that focuses on giving people more space inside while using less space for mechanical stuff. They picked the name “Ye,” which means “shine brilliantly” in Chinese, for these cars. They’ll also have a new logo in white to show they’re part of Honda’s new electric car lineup.
Right now, Honda sells some electric cars in China called the e: N Series. They also sell one called the Honda e: Ny1 in the UK, but it’s really expensive, costing around $59,000.
