Hyundai has revealed the latest iteration of its i30 Hatch, featuring subtle design tweaks and enhanced safety features. This refreshed model, slated to hit Australian shores later this year, marks a shift as all i30 Hatch variants will now be sourced from Europe. Scheduled for production in April, the updated i30 Hatch is expected to reach Australian customers by September or October 2024.
The changes primarily focus on aesthetic enhancements, with a redesigned grille pattern, bumper insert, and fog light housings at the front, along with a more angular chrome insert at the rear bumper. N Line variants receive additional updates, including new dark metal accents and a redesigned side skirt. The lineup also introduces seven new paint finishes to complement the existing color palette.
Across all models, LED headlights and tail lights are now standard, hinting at a departure from older halogen headlight technology. Inside, LED interior lighting is featured alongside a standard 4.2-inch color instrument cluster screen, with an optional 10.25-inch fully digital cluster available.
The cabin also boasts updated USB-C outlets and over-the-air navigation updates. Hyundai has paid attention to safety, adding intelligent speed limit assist, rear occupant alert, and an improved autonomous emergency braking system with junction assist.
Optional features include Highway Driving Assist 1.5, combining adaptive cruise control and lane centering functions. While no changes to powertrains have been announced, European variants offer a choice between a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine and a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, both with a mild-hybrid system.
Hyundai Australia has confirmed that only the larger of the two engines will be available in the Australian market. With production shifting entirely to Europe, all i30 Hatch models for the Australian market will now feature multi-link rear suspension, previously exclusive to certain variants.
This transition may lead to a price increase due to import tariffs, but it also means Australian customers will finally receive a refreshed N Line model, aligning with the updated design of the rest of the lineup.
