Mercedes-Benz AMG is set to bolster its GT sports car lineup with the arrival of the redesigned version this spring, offering enhanced features and performance. While the lineup is not yet complete, the GT now boasts 2+2 seating, catering to a wider range of enthusiasts.
The GT lineup debuts with the GT 55 and GT 63 variants, both equipped with AMG’s renowned twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine. The GT 55 delivers 469 hp, while the GT 63 roars with 577 hp. Both models feature a 9-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive, ensuring exhilarating performance on the road.
Additional grades are slated for release, including one positioned higher and another lower in the range. Recently revealed, the GT 43 packs 416 hp from a 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine, shared with the AMG SL 43 convertible.
While specific details regarding the U.S. sales launch remain undisclosed, the GT 43 promises impressive acceleration, sprinting from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 174 mph.
The GT 43 incorporates an innovative electrified turbocharger design akin to Formula 1 technology, enhancing engine responsiveness by reducing turbo lag. Notably, the GT 43 adopts rear-wheel drive, distinguishing it from other GT variants, and offers optional features like the AMG Ride Control suspension with adjustable damping.
Visually, the GT 43 showcases unique front and rear fascias alongside round tailpipes, distinguishing it from its V-8 counterparts. Different wheel patterns, including standard 19-inch wheels, add to its distinctive appearance.
While pricing details are yet to be announced, the GT 43 is anticipated to offer a compelling value proposition compared to its counterparts, with potential savings expected. As a reference, the SL 43 is priced from $111,050, including a $1,150 destination charge.
