Mercedes-Benz is introducing a plug-in hybrid version of its popular GLC-class crossover, set to arrive in the latter half of 2025. The new GLC350e is equipped with a 24.8-kWh battery and a 134-hp permanently excited synchronous motor paired with a 2.0-liter, 201-hp engine.

Although specific details about the gas powertrain haven’t been confirmed, it is believed to be a detuned version of the turbocharged four-cylinder found in the GLC300.

Together, the hybrid system delivers a combined output of 313 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, distributed to all four wheels, propelling the GLC350e from 0 to 60 mph in approximately 6.6 seconds.

Mercedes anticipates an electric range of approximately 81 miles based on Europe’s WLTP test cycle, which translates to an estimated 70 miles using the EPA’s testing measures. The GLC350e can reach a top speed of 87 mph on electric power alone, extending to 135 mph with the gas engine engaged.

Notably, Mercedes has incorporated an electromechanical brake booster to enhance regeneration under braking, achieving up to 100 kW of regeneration more frequently compared to a purely hydraulic brake system.

Charging capabilities include a maximum DC connection of 60 kW, enabling a full recharge in approximately 30 minutes. AC charging maxes out at 11 kW. The GLC350e will feature a CCS-style charge port for the 2025 model year, with plans to transition to the Tesla-style NACS charge port starting next year.

Pricing details for the GLC350e are yet to be announced, with Mercedes aiming to cater to customers looking to transition into electric mobility while expanding its hybrid lineup alongside its growing range of electric passenger vehicles in the United States.
