Mercedes-Benz introduces updates to the 2025 eSprinter, offering a smaller battery option and a reduced starting price. The new eSprinter now comes with an 81.0-kWh battery alongside the existing 113.0-kWh variant, catering to different range needs. Additionally, a smaller body style option is available, featuring a standard roof height and a 144-inch wheelbase.
Both battery configurations power a rear-mounted electric motor, delivering either a standard 134-hp output or an optional 201-hp upgrade, with torque reaching 295 pound-feet. While EPA range estimates aren’t applicable due to the van’s size, the European WLTP cycle indicates that the 113.0-kWh model achieves approximately 297 miles, while the 81.0-kWh version reaches 190 miles.
For the smaller body style, WLTP estimates stand at 204 miles, translating to around 173 miles in the USA. Recognizing that most cargo vans cover daily delivery distances of fewer than 150 miles, Mercedes-Benz asserts that even the smaller battery option provides ample range.
For longer trips, the regular Sprinter, equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine, remains available, offering up to 168 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, with optional all-wheel drive. In terms of features, all Sprinter models, electric or internal combustion engine (ICE), receive upgrades for 2025.
These include enhanced driver-assist technologies such as blind-spot monitoring with cyclist detection, a 360-degree camera system with pedestrian and cyclist warning, and an available heated steering wheel.
With the introduction of the smaller battery and body style, the starting price of the eSprinter drops by approximately $10,000, now starting at $63,545 for the smaller battery option and $75,855 for the larger battery variant. Base prices for the combustion-engine 2025 Sprinter models range from $53,195 for the Cargo Van to $59,295 for the Passenger Van.
