A couple of weeks after winning his first race with Aprilia at the Americas GP, Vinales didn’t do so well at Jerez. He finished ninth, far behind the winner, Francesco Bagnaia. He and his teammate Aleix Espargaro also didn’t do well in qualifying, ending up slower than others.
But during the official test on Monday, Vinales found out something about his second bike. He said, “The lap times seemed really competitive, also lap times on rhythm. So, we missed something on the weekend, we need to understand.”
He found that there was a difference between his two bikes. He raced with the one he felt wasn’t competitive. This made him want to check every detail.
Earlier, they thought there was a problem with the front brakes of his second bike in Austin. They fixed it before Jerez. But when he compared the two bikes on Monday, he found a bigger problem.
Now, Vinales thinks Aprilia can do better in the next races. He said, “Because I crashed with bike A on Saturday, so to be safe we went with bike B.”
He also said, “Today we discovered more or less what it is and now they are working similarly.”
He thinks the issue might have happened because a part didn’t meet Aprilia’s standards.
