Martin won the French Grand Prix after a tough fight with other Ducati riders, Bagnaia and Marquez. This win gave him a 38-point lead in the championship after five races.
He had a perfect weekend, being fastest in practice, getting pole position in qualifying, and winning the sprint race on Saturday.
This victory is important for Martin, especially because Ducati is deciding whether to put him on the factory team next year instead of Enea Bastianini or Marquez.
But Martin doesn’t think his performance will change Ducati’s decision. He believes his past results already prove he deserves a spot in the factory team next to Bagnaia.
“I don’t think I need to prove anything,” he said after winning at Le Mans. “Whatever happens in the next races won’t change anything. I’m happy with how I’m doing.”
When asked if his win sends a message to Ducati, he said, “Maybe it’s clearer now, but I’m the same rider as before. Ducati already knows what they need to know to make their decision.”
Martin showed his excitement after winning by breaking the visor on his bike during the cool-down lap. He admitted he had some doubts before the race, but he’s happy to prove he’s one of the best riders.
“Every rider has doubts before a race,” he said. “I know I’m good, but sometimes I doubt myself too much. When I finished the race, I was so happy to show everyone that I’m the best.”
