Even though they were trying new strategies and benefiting from MotoGP’s new concession system, Honda hasn’t improved much. The RC213V bike is still not as good as its rivals.
Joan Mir is now Honda’s main rider since Marc Marquez left. But even with this change, Mir hasn’t finished better than 12th in the first five races. His teammate Luca Marini hasn’t scored any points yet.
Mir knows that Honda’s performance won’t improve right away. He says they’re facing the same problems and need to react. At the Jerez test, they figured out a path forward, but it will take time to see changes.
Mir, now in his second year with Honda, feels the toll of riding a bike that’s not competitive. He’s not sure how much longer he can wait for Honda to make the bike better.
As Mir considers his future with Honda, there are rumors that he might join the Trackhouse team. Mir noted that leaving Honda hasn’t worked out well for many riders in recent years.
Mir believes he’s handling the situation better now. Even though the bike is worse than last year, he’s riding faster. He feels physically strong and thinks the problem isn’t him, but the bike.
