In the next season, the rider currently leading in points, Martin, and the eight-time world champion, Marc Marquez, are being considered for Ducati’s team. They might join Francesco Bagnaia, who already races for Ducati. Bastianini, who currently rides for Ducati, might not get to stay after his two-year contract ends.
Martin, who races for Pramac, has been doing really well this year. He won races in Portimao and Le Mans and is 38 points ahead in the championship. But it’s not guaranteed that he’ll get to move up to the factory Ducati team. He said he’d go to another company if Ducati doesn’t pick him.
If Martin doesn’t get the Ducati spot, he might join Aprilia. Aprilia has an open spot because Espargaro, who rides for them, announced he’ll retire after the 2024 season. Espargaro thinks Martin should get the best seat at Ducati, not just a good one.
He said, “Aprilia is a good team and has a good bike, but it’s not fair for Martin. Jorge deserves the best ride, which is with the factory Ducati. If he can’t have that, it’s super unfair for him to join Aprilia. But yes, Aprilia is a good option, and it would be great to see Jorge winning with them.”
Espargaro will retire after the Valencia Grand Prix in November. He’s played a big role in making Aprilia a strong team in MotoGP. He’s won races and been on the podium many times, even though some people think he’s even better than that.
He’ll be 35 when he finishes racing, but he feels good about his decision. He said, “Yesterday was one of the best days of my life. And this morning when I woke up, I felt like I made the right choice. I was really happy and relaxed. Normally, I’m always thinking about racing, but today I felt calm. So, I’m glad I decided to retire.”
