Ducati has been thinking about who will ride alongside Bagnaia in 2025. They suggested that they might decide by the Mugello race.
But now, it seems they won’t announce the decision yet. They told the media that they will start discussing it from Mugello onwards.
Ducati’s boss, Gigi Dall’Igna, said they want to make the decision soon, but things like contracts and negotiations take time. They need time to finalize the decision and then tell everyone.
Mauro Grassilli, Ducati’s sporting director, said the decision is still difficult, like it was at the start of the season. They are making progress but won’t announce anything at Mugello.
In an ideal situation, Ducati would like to promote Martin to the factory team and have Marquez join Pramac with factory support. But it’s not that simple. Martin was passed over for a factory seat last year, so his only option to stay at Ducati might be to replace Bastianini in 2025.
There are other things to consider too. Ducati needs to figure out how they’ll afford both Martin and Marquez. Marquez’s marketing value is also important to consider.
Even though Ducati won’t announce anything at Mugello, it’s still an important time. Pramac needs to talk to Yamaha in Italy about their plans for 2025. This will also affect other teams like VR46 Racing and Gresini, who are Ducati satellite teams.
