Quartararo felt hopeful after finishing ninth in the Catalan Grand Prix, moving up from 17th place. He used a new aerodynamic package in Barcelona, which is part of Yamaha’s efforts to improve their bike. He has been disappointed in Yamaha’s lack of progress in recent years but now sees some hope.
He said, “When you make small steps, you want bigger ones quickly. But for the past year and a half, we haven’t made any progress. So, it’s great to see some light at the end of the tunnel now.”
Explaining how the updates helped, he said they improved turning and speed in corners. Yamaha and Honda have more testing opportunities this year, which helps them try new parts and get used to them.
He believes Yamaha is now more focused on meaningful improvements rather than just bringing in new parts. He thinks this approach will help them solve the bike’s problems more effectively.
He also mentioned that after Mugello, they have two days of testing in Valencia. It’s a busy schedule, but he believes it’s worth it because Yamaha has never worked like this before. They are now more focused on finding solutions to their problems.
