The promoter of the Indian GP announced that this year’s MotoGP race won’t happen. They plan to reschedule it for March 2025.
Originally, the Kazakhstan GP was set for June but got postponed due to floods. Now, it’s taking the Indian GP’s spot on September 20-22.
MotoGP said it’s due to “operational considerations” and unsuitable “weather conditions” for the Indian round in September. Heat and humidity at the Buddh International Circuit made it tough in last year’s race.
But there’s another reason too. It seems financial issues led to cancelling the 2024 Indian GP. The promoter couldn’t meet the contract terms with Dorna.
Earlier, they said the race would go on despite concerns over the general elections. Now, Dorna moved fast to slot Kazakhstan into that weekend.
So, the Kazakhstan GP will kick off a triple-header with Indonesia and Japan. Then, MotoGP takes a week off before another triple-header with Australia, Thailand, and Malaysia. The season ends in Valencia in November.
Next up is the Italian GP at Mugello this weekend.
