In the afternoon session, Francesco Bagnaia was the fastest rider with a time of 1 minute and 44.938 seconds. But he might be in trouble because the FIM stewards are looking into whether he blocked Alex Marquez during a fast lap.
Pedro Acosta, a rookie for Tech3 GasGas, crashed halfway through the session but still managed to finish third. Marc Marquez, who hasn’t made it to Q2 since the Spanish GP, secured his spot there this time.
At the start of the session, Maverick Vinales set the fastest time on the Aprilia, but Marc Marquez quickly beat that. Vinales then reclaimed the top spot with a faster time before the session ended.
Bagnaia’s last lap was his fastest, setting a time of 1 minute and 44.938 seconds. Alex Rins on the Yamaha was close behind, just 0.273 seconds slower. Acosta finished third.
Miguel Oliveira moved up to fourth place near the end of the session, and Marc Marquez finished fifth.
Enea Bastianini came in sixth on the second factory Ducati bike. Jorge Martin, the championship leader, was seventh, followed by Alex Marquez, Vinales, and Aleix Espargaro on the Aprilia.
In the last few minutes of the session, the top ten positions changed rapidly. Fabio Quartararo, who was in third place, dropped to eleventh after a problem with his bike.
Quartararo and three factory team KTMs will have to go through Q1 qualifying on Saturday morning.
Takaaki Nakagami from LCR Honda was the fastest Honda rider in nineteenth place, and Luca Marini on the factory team RC213V finished last.
