Marquez’s future has been a hot topic recently as Ducati considers promoting him to the factory team alongside Francesco Bagnaia, given his impressive performance on the Desmosedici bike at Gresini.
However, Jorge Martin’s strong performance with Pramac and his desire for a factory seat have made him the top choice for Ducati.
Marquez stated during the Catalan Grand Prix that his main goal for 2025 is to ride the latest-spec bike, regardless of the team.
But speaking before Ducati’s home race at Mugello, Marquez firmly rejected the idea of moving to Pramac, which gets factory support and new equipment from Ducati.
When asked if his only options at Ducati were moving to the factory team or staying at Gresini, Marquez said, “Yes.”
He explained further, saying, “I will not move from one satellite team to another one.”
Marquez believes that having the latest machinery from a factory team would make it easier to compete against top riders.
As the chances of joining the factory team diminish, Marquez might consider staying with Ducati through Gresini, although the team only gets year-old bikes from Ducati.
Marquez mentioned having a deadline to decide his future, as he needs to finalize contracts with personal sponsors.
He expressed hope to have certainty about his racing plans by the German GP in early July.
