The MotoGP world is buzzing with rumors as the Italian Grand Prix approaches at Mugello. Everyone is curious about who will fill the empty seat next to Francesco Bagnaia at Ducati.
Jorge Martin, currently leading the championship with Pramac Racing, is rumored to be the favorite to join Ducati for 2025. However, there’s been no official confirmation from Ducati yet.
Martin potentially moving up to Ducati means there’s a spot opening at Pramac. Some thought Marc Marquez might take that seat, but he said he either wants to stay with Gresini or replace Enea Bastianini.
Marquez’s decision has created a complex situation within Ducati. Ducati can only provide four full-factory bikes, and Pramac might be the only team to get them. This leaves Marquez with a tough choice, as Gresini might only have older bikes available.
There’s speculation that Marquez might leave Ducati after just one season and go to another manufacturer like KTM. However, Tech3 GasGas rider Acosta denied these rumors at Mugello, saying he’ll be joining Brad Binder at KTM’s factory team next year.
When asked about Marquez possibly joining KTM, Acosta compared Ducati’s situation to a soap opera, with different answers every weekend but no clear resolution.
Meanwhile, KTM announced that Acosta will move up to its main team in 2025, replacing Jack Miller. Acosta expressed his happiness with the opportunity, reflecting on his journey from Moto3 to MotoGP and his return to the “orange team.”
He’s thrilled to be part of the KTM family again, appreciating the support from his team and looking forward to aiming for top positions together.
