20-year-old Pedro Acosta has earned himself a spot on KTM’s top team after just six rounds of his rookie season. He’s already done great, getting two podiums and racing against champions like Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia.
Pedro said, “I wanted to keep working with KTM, seeing how we’ve grown in racing. It feels like coming home, being in orange. KTM’s progress is motivating me to stick around.”
KTM has been supporting Pedro since his early days in racing. They guaranteed him a spot in the premier class while he was still in Moto3 in 2021. This year, he moved up to MotoGP as the Moto2 champion, riding for the GasGas Tech3 team with a factory bike and KTM engineers.
Pedro’s been impressive this season, leading KTM’s scores in the first six races and ranking sixth in the championship, ahead of Brad Binder.
Many expected Pedro to join KTM’s factory team next year, but KTM surprised everyone by announcing it early. He’ll replace Jack Miller, who’s been with KTM for two seasons after moving from Ducati.
KTM wasn’t satisfied with Miller and Fernandez’s performance this season. They’re far behind Pedro in the standings, so KTM decided to make a change.
However, this doesn’t mean the end for Miller at KTM. He might switch to GasGas next season.
Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsports Director, said, “We’re thrilled to announce this news. Pedro’s speed and personality on the track have won him fans worldwide. He’s a unique rider, and we’re excited to continue our journey with him. Aki Ajo and our KTM GP Academy have done great work with Pedro, and we’re looking forward to his future with us.”
Brad Binder is staying with KTM until the end of the 2026 season.
