The fate of Enea Bastianini in the MotoGP racing world was revealed on Monday, June 3rd. The media announced that Ducati, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, had chosen to move Marc Marquez to its factory team. Although Ducati hasn’t officially confirmed this yet, it was practically confirmed when Aprilia announced they signed Jorge Martin for a multi-year deal.
In the 2025 season, Bastianini will enter his fifth year in the top MotoGP class. So far, he’s won five races, reached the podium 24 times, and secured nine pole positions. He got promoted to the factory Ducati team after an excellent 2022 season with Gresini. Despite riding an older bike, he won four races and was in the title race. However, his performance didn’t meet expectations when he joined Ducati’s official team.
The Pierer Mobility Group, managing both the factory KTM team and the Tech3 GasGas satellite team, plans to change their branding strategy. They aim to have four RC16 bikes racing in their iconic orange colors. Stefan Pierer’s business group has shown interest in taking over the two spots currently held by Herve Poncharal’s Tech3 squad. Poncharal hasn’t decided yet on Tech3’s future under KTM’s new plans.
It’s uncertain who will join Bastianini in KTM’s second squad for 2025, as Pedro Acosta’s promotion to the factory team alongside Brad Binder was confirmed recently. Jack Miller, who hasn’t had a successful run with KTM, is out of contract at the end of the year. Whether he’ll stay with KTM in 2025 is unknown.
KTM is expected to make an official announcement soon regarding Bastianini’s signing.
