Pedro Acosta, a new rider for Tech3, compared the situation to a “soap opera.” On June 3, the media revealed that Ducati changed its mind about promoting Jorge Martin to its factory team and instead chose Marc Marquez. This decision caused a big stir in the 2025 MotoGP rider market.

Before the Italian Grand Prix, Martin was told he would be Ducati’s rider for 2025. But after the race, he learned things had changed. Feeling rejected, Martin quickly signed with Aprilia. This move is a big win for Aprilia and a fast one too.

Ducati officially announced Marquez’s promotion on June 5. But even before the announcement, the news from the media showed Marquez’s power.

Initially, Ducati planned for Martin to take the factory seat and Marquez to join Pramac. However, Marquez didn’t want Pramac. Ducati had to rethink its plan.

Martin’s performance this year makes Ducati’s decision tough. With two grand prix wins and a championship lead, Martin is doing great. Marquez, on the other hand, has no wins but is still competitive. He’s proven himself before and has six world titles.

Marquez had a tough time with Honda but was dominant in 2019. Now, on a strong bike like Ducati, he could shine even more.

Marquez is also popular on social media and brings excitement to races. If he wins another title, especially with Ducati, his legend will grow.

Choosing Marquez over Martin may upset some, but Marquez’s popularity and success make him a valuable asset for Ducati.

Ducati’s decision could cause tension with current rider Francesco Bagnaia. Bagnaia may not like Marquez’s influence in the team. And Marquez’s rivalry with Valentino Rossi adds another layer of drama.

There could be more conflict between Marquez and Bagnaia on the track. Martin, now racing for Aprilia, might also add to the competition.

Ducati’s decision may also affect other teams like Pramac and VR46. But having Marquez is worth the challenges.

Ducati’s choice may disrupt the MotoGP world, but keeping Marquez is a smart move for the team’s success.
