The British MotoGP will undergo a significant calendar shift in 2025, moving from its traditional August slot to a new May date. This change, announced at this year’s Silverstone event, aims to attract a larger audience by avoiding the British summer holiday period.
The decision marks a return to an earlier calendar position, similar to the event’s schedule between 2010 and 2012. MotoGP organizers believe the move will bolster the race’s impact in a key market and capitalize on the sport’s growing popularity.
However, the new date will coincide with the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500, creating a potential conflict for motorsport fans. The British Grand Prix will return to Silverstone in May 2025, offering fans a shorter wait for the next MotoGP event.
Silverstone CEO Stuart Pringle has promised an action-packed weekend filled with racing, music, and stunts. Meanwhile, MotoGP’s move to India in March 2025, instead of September, aims to avoid the harsh weather conditions that impacted the 2023 race, making it the second round of the season after Qatar.
