Zilisch won the race at Dover after leading on lap 108 of 150. He bumped into William Sawalich while they were racing side by side, and Sawalich hit the wall hard and had to leave the race. When there were only eight laps left, Zilisch managed to stay ahead of Gio Ruggiero and won by almost a second. This is his first win in this series, and it’s also a win in ARCA East, where he’s competing for the series title.
Zilisch said, “I was pretty scared in the beginning. I was having trouble with the car for the first 70 laps. We were stopped on the track, and I just wanted to get going again. I was feeling down because I wasn’t making progress. But I’m grateful to my team. The restarts were tough, but we stayed in the front and won the race.”
Carson Kvapil came in third, Lavar Scott was fourth, and Andres Perez finished fifth.
The race was stopped for almost eight minutes after a crash on lap 75. Christian Rose, who was leading in points before the race, had a tire problem and hit the wall hard. Amber Balcaen tried to avoid Rose’s car, which was on fire, but she ended up spinning and hitting the inside wall. She got out of the car and walked slowly with some help before being taken to the care center. Her left foot and ankle were wrapped, and she said she was okay but needed more checks on her foot.
