Richard Childress Racing (RCR) officials are in discussions with Supercars standout driver Brown to potentially pilot the No. 33 Chevrolet in the upcoming June 9 race at Sonoma Raceway. While the deal has not yet been finalized, RCR spokespersons have indicated that it’s close to being confirmed and are awaiting an official announcement.

At 25 years old, Brown would follow the footsteps of other Supercars talents like Shane van Gisbergen, Brodie Kostecki, and Cam Waters, who have ventured into NASCAR national series competition in recent years. Brown currently leads the Supercars standings this season, boasting three victories for the Triple Eight Race Engineering Red Bull team and a total of eight career wins in 108 starts.

Austin Dillon, an RCR Cup driver, acknowledged the possibility of Brown joining the team, noting that while details are sparse, it seems likely to happen. Brown and RCR already have some racing history together, with Brown stepping in alongside Dillon and Kyle Busch as a last-minute substitute for Kostecki in a World Racing League event at Circuit of the Americas in December.

The potential collaboration between Brown and RCR offers an opportunity for mutual learning and improvement. Dillon highlighted the differences in driving styles and techniques, emphasizing the chance for both parties to enhance their programs through collaboration.

The move to NASCAR from Supercars has been a trend among talented drivers. Notably, van Gisbergen made headlines last July by becoming the first driver in over 60 years to win a Cup race in his debut. Kostecki and Waters have also made strides in NASCAR, with Kostecki previously making starts in the ARCA East series and Cup races, while Waters has had recent appearances in the Truck Series with ThorSport Racing.
