In Sunday’s race at Kansas Speedway, Buescher and Kyle Larson had a really close finish. At first, Buescher was declared the winner by just 0.001 seconds, but NASCAR wanted to be sure, so they checked the video.

NASCAR always reviews finishes when they’re not sure who won. Sadly for Buescher and Ford, the video showed Larson’s car just a tiny bit ahead of Buescher’s.

Buescher’s team had started celebrating, but then they were shocked when they found out they didn’t win. Larson’s team was happy instead.

After the race, Buescher said, “I don’t know what to say right now. I haven’t seen a replay, other than just a picture. I just can’t see it in that picture. That sucks to be that close.”

Ford hasn’t won any races yet this season in NASCAR. Buescher had a good chance to win this race after a late caution messed up Denny Hamlin’s chances.

Buescher got ahead on the restart after the caution, but Larson caught up with him. They were side by side at the end, and Larson ended up winning.

Buescher said, “We were really good really all day, and I’m really proud of that. Had some good strategy to get us back up there and tried to cover what I could and gave him half a lane too much, I suppose. But it was a good hard race right there down to the line. But yeah, just it hurts.”

Even though he didn’t win, Buescher came second, which is his best finish this season. He’s now 11th in the series standings and wants to win more races in the future.
