Corey Heim is a 21-year-old NASCAR Truck Series driver. He’s won seven times in that series and was in the Championship 4 last year. He’s also raced in the NASCAR Xfinity Series ten times, with his best finish being fourth at Richmond Raceway earlier this year.
At the beginning of the 2024 season, Heim became a reserve driver for Legacy Motor Club. When Erik Jones got hurt in a bad crash, Heim got the call to replace him until Jones could race again.
Heim’s first race was at Dover Motor Speedway. He qualified 32nd and finished 25th driving the No. 43 LMC Toyota. Even though Jones got better before the Kansas race, he and the team decided to be careful, so Heim got to race again. He qualified 20th at Kansas and was doing well, but got spun out right before the finish line and ended up 22nd.
Jones is back in the driver’s seat now, but Heim isn’t done for the year. 23XI Racing, the team owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin, announced that Heim will drive their No. 50 car in the Nashville race on June 30th. Mobil 1 will be the main sponsor.
This isn’t the first time 23XI Racing has entered a third car in a race. They usually race with the No. 23 for Bubba Wallace and the No. 45 for Tyler Reddick. But in the past, they’ve added a third car for special races. In the 2023 Daytona 500, Travis Pastrana drove their third car and finished 11th. Then in 2024, Kamui Kobayashi drove the car in the Indy RC race and finished 33rd. Later that year at COTA, the car was changed to No. 50 to celebrate Mobil 1’s 50th anniversary, and Kobayashi finished 29th.
