Reddick and Bubba Wallace from 23XI Racing didn’t do well last week at Kansas Speedway, even though their team won three out of the four previous races there. But they did better at Darlington on Saturday. Reddick raced early in the final qualifying round and was the fastest, with an average lap speed of 170.124 mph.
This earned him the top starting position for Sunday’s race. Brad Keselowski from RFK Racing came second, and Chris Buescher from the same team came third. Ty Gibbs and William Byron rounded out the top five.
Reddick’s pole position is his first this season and the seventh of his career. Different drivers have won poles in the first 13 qualifying sessions of the 2024 season.
Reddick said, “Just really excited to start on the pole. It really does seem like both the 23XI Racing cars are strong.” He also mentioned, “I did run in a lot of traffic in practice, so I think we have some work to do there.”
The top 10 starting lineup also includes Kyle Larson, last week’s race winner, Denny Hamlin, Wallace, Ross Chastain, and Martin Truex Jr.
In the first round of qualifying, Buescher was the fastest, followed by Reddick and Truex. In the second round, Hamlin was the fastest, followed by Wallace and Keselowski.
Some drivers who didn’t make it to the final round of qualifying were Kyle Busch, Chase Briscoe, and Todd Gilliland. In the first round, Christopher Bell, Joey Logano, Alex Bowman, and Michael McDowell, who was fastest in Saturday’s practice session, also didn’t make it to the final round.
