NASCAR star Denny Hamlin got the idea from the NBA. He wanted to bring something similar to stock car racing. Last year, he introduced his version of it. Now, NASCAR is making its own tournament.

The tournament will happen during five races in the summer of the 2025 season. It will match the events shown on TNT Sports.

Brian Herbst, who works at NASCAR, explained the idea. He said they wanted to make the sport more exciting for fans. The tournament will add fun and new stories to NASCAR.

The winner of the tournament will get $1 million. How drivers are placed in the tournament will depend on how they did in three previous races. Those races will be shown on Amazon Prime. If there’s a tie, they’ll look at how well the drivers did in other races, then their regular season points.

Drivers will compete one-on-one. The one who finishes higher moves on to the next round. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be part of the broadcast team for these races.

Craig Barry, who works for TNT Sports, thinks this is a great idea. He said it will make NASCAR races even more exciting. TNT Sports is happy to be working with NASCAR.

Charlie Neiman from Prime Video also thinks this is a fantastic idea. He believes it will make NASCAR races even better for fans to watch.
