Will Brown’s journey through stock car racing has been full of ups and downs, but he’s amazed at how quickly things have changed for him. He’s determined to savor every moment of this ride.

Recently, it became official that Richard Childress Racing, confirming earlier reports, has chosen Brown to drive their No. 33 Chevrolet in the upcoming Cup race at Sonoma Raceway on June 9th. This will mark Brown’s NASCAR debut, supported by sponsors MobileX and Motorola.

At just 25 years old, Brown joins a select group of Supercars stars who have transitioned into NASCAR, including Shane van Gisbergen, Brodie Kostecki, and Cam Waters. Brown, originally from Toowoomba, Queensland, currently leads the Supercars standings, boasting three wins this season for the Triple Eight Race Engineering Red Bull team.

Reflecting on his journey, Brown expressed gratitude for the opportunities that have come his way, particularly acknowledging van Gisbergen’s influence. He remarked, “For me four years ago, a lot of this wasn’t even on the horizon. I didn’t think I’d ever get the opportunity to race NASCAR. So, I’m just like living the dream.”

Van Gisbergen’s own success story in NASCAR served as inspiration for Brown, igniting his interest in the sport. While van Gisbergen has committed to a full-time NASCAR career, Brown’s plans remain open-ended. However, he’s eager to test himself against the best in America and the world, viewing races like Sonoma as valuable learning experiences.

Brown’s connection with RCR runs deep, having previously raced alongside their Cup drivers Austin Dillon and Kyle Busch in a World Racing League event. This alignment between RCR and Supercars teams reflects a growing international collaboration in motorsports.

Looking ahead, Brown hopes to see more exchange between NASCAR and Supercars, fostering mutual respect and collaboration between the two racing communities. His ultimate goal is to see the racing alliance strengthen, benefiting both sides of the Pacific.
