Blaney made a pit stop during the race when there were still 66 laps left. It seemed like he had enough fuel to finish the race. Christopher Bell, who was also doing well, made his pit stop about 20 laps later and caught up to Blaney with fresher tires.
They raced side by side for almost three laps until Bell had a problem with his engine and had to slow down. This allowed Blaney to take the lead with a big gap between him and the others.
But then, with only two laps left, Blaney’s car suddenly slowed down too. This gave his teammate Austin Cindric the lead, and he ended up winning the race. Blaney had to settle for finishing in 24th place.
Blaney felt disappointed about running out of fuel so close to the end of the race. He praised his team for their hard work and felt proud of their performance. He also congratulated Austin Cindric and his team for their win.
This season has been tough for Blaney, even though he has been fast enough to win races. He has been unlucky, crashing out of three races in a row, including the two races just before this one. His ranking in the series has dropped, and he now sits in 12th place.
Blaney expressed his frustration about the bad luck they’ve been having but appreciated the effort his team has been putting in. He knows they need to keep working hard and stay positive for the next race at Sonoma Raceway.
